Mission: Galveston Artist Residency exists to promote and encourage the knowledge and appreciation of art by giving artists a gift of time and space for the development of their work. We provide studio space, accommodation and a stipend to three artists annually.
GAR is located in Galveston TX, a barrier island about one hour away from Houston, on the east Texas coast. Galveston is an eclectic mixture of tourism & industry with a rich history.
Cost: We will be awarding three residency grants for the time period of September 1, 2013 through August 1, 2014. GAR is a fully funded residency. Artists in residence will receive a studio, an apartment, a monthly stipend of $1,000 per month and a bicycle.

GAR is located in a pair of radically reimagined and rebuilt industrial structures on the edge of downtown Galveston. In addition to our residency program, the GAR Gallery and Courtyards will host various public programs such as art exhibitions, film series, performances, open studios, lectures, etc.
Length of Stay: September 1, 2017 through August 1, 2018
Demographic: Emerging artists as well as mature established artists are eligible. We are looking for visual artists that are at a point in their life where they need to focus on their work and will benefit from a period of intense studio time.
Medium: The GAR program is open to visual artists working in any medium. Consideration will also be given to artists who are involved in non-commercial endeavors, environmental or sustainable living projects or projects that can increase community involvement or social awareness.
