24hr International Studio Residency Programming

Location: Huantei Art City, Chaoyang District, Beijing, China

Mission: The 24HR Art – International Studio Residency Program was launched in 2011 with the establishment of a large studio at Huantei Art City, Chaoyang District, Beijing. Through a new partnership between 24HR Art and Asialink the program is open to all Australian contemporary visual artists, however there will be a focus on giving international professional development opportunities to artists from regional and remote areas.

Cost: $900 residency fee. Additionally, visa, travel, insurance, freight, and living expenses are to be covered by the applicant.

Number of Artists: Up to 2 artists at a time

Accommodations: The residency facility contains 400m2 of open studio space, wet areas, separate office and meeting room with computer and internet access, and private outdoor courtyard. The accommodation contains a large mezzanine apartment, fully self-contained kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities, large living area and two air-conditioned double bedrooms. The studio and apartment have central heating.

Length of Stay: 2 months

Demographic/Medium: Open to all Australian contemporary visual artists, however there will be a focus on giving international professional development opportunities to artists from regional and remote areas.

Deadline: Five two month residency periods will be offered each year, with two artists sharing the studio and accommodation facilities during each two month period. February – March; April – May; June – July; August – September; October – November.

*Applications for 2013 are currently closed. Artists may submit expressions of interest; acceptance to the program is on an invitation only basis.
