Location: Budapest, Hungary / Dallas, TX
Mission: Hungarian Multicultural Center’s mission is to bridge cultural, geographic, and linguistic divides by bringing people together through the arts in order to foster a greater understanding of world cultures.
The HMC’s cultural programs are film screening, concerts, workshops, seminars, exhibitions, video festivals and artists’ residencies.
The international artist-in-residence program was founded in 1995. HMC offers a unique opportunity for artists chosen from around the world: the opportunity to reside and work as a resident artist in an atmosphere designed to stimulate personal vision and encourage new and exciting artistic expressions.
It is neither a school nor an artist`s colony. It does, however, offer an opportunity for professional artists to explore their full creative potential.
Residencies and exhibitions are yet another way to bring the contemporary art and artists featured in the series directly to local communities and audiences. Providing an opportunity to interact with new work and new ideas, residencies can initiate important conversations and create forums for further public dialogue.
Facilitating connections between artists and different communities can deepen the conversations started in the broadcast series. Involving the artists directly in outreach is an important aspect of the HMC series.
The HMC invites interested visual artists and writers to submit application for its residency programs in Budapest, Hungary. Its principal focus is an international residency program to which artists from around the world are invited. The goal is to provide a supportive community with uninterrupted time to work. The residencies offer participants a unique opportunity to interact with other artists representing a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
During the residency period, we hold exhibitions, through creative activities, presentations, workshops, and lectures by the artists.
