Location: Joshua Tree National Park, California
Mission: Rancho Paradiso sits on 2.5 acres of land with amazing views of the Joshua Tree National Park. While peaceful and quiet, it is only a few miles from downtown Yucca Valley or Joshua Tree, with plenty of shops and restaurants. Palm Springs is the closest international airport, about 45 minutes away, and the city of Los Angeles is about a two hour drive.
The area has long been a draw for an assortment of artists, musicians and writers. In recent years a growing number of artists from the LA area have migrated to Joshua Tree, drawn by it’s bizarre landscape, open spaces and affordability.
Cost: $125-150 per week

Number of Artists: Up to 7 artists at a time
Length of Stay: 1-2 weeks, about 6 residency sessions per year
Accommodations: Artists are given a private room or trailer and a shared kitchen and bath. Smaller residencies are on the main property, which has two large bedrooms and several living/lounge/work spaces. There are also three vintage trailers on the property, and an outdoor shower and bathroom. There is a satellite property one mile down the road, with three more bedrooms and a large garage workspace.
Meals and transportation are the responsibility of the artists.
Demographic/Medium: Visual artists preferred, but all considered.
Benefits: The goal is simple – to provide an affordable place to live and work among other artists in a new environment and unusual landscape.
