Location: Sparkill, New York
Mission: Building on the esteemed reputation of the Art Students League of New York, The League Residency at Vyt provides support to emerging, established, and teaching artists by bringing them together with colleagues and masters for intensive focus through an international residency program. Affectionately known as “Vyt,” the property and funding was a gift from the family of Modernist artist and League instructor Vaclav Vytlacil. The residency is set on fifteen wooded acres in the Lower Hudson Valley, 24 miles from the cultural center of New York City.
Cost: $2800 per four-week session. Limited full and partial merit scholarships available.

Number of Artists: Up to 7 artists at a time
Length of Stay: Each residency session begins on the 1st of the month and concludes on the 28th day of the month.
Accommodations: Residents enjoy 24-hour access to north-lit studios while accommodated with private single bedrooms. There are shared kitchen and laundry areas. Facilities include a library, bronze foundry, workshop, ceramic kilns, forging and welding facilities.
Demographic/Medium: Emerging, established, and teaching visual artists welcome. Mediums best accommodated are 2-D, 3-D, installation.
Benefits: Vyt enables residents to craft their own mix of focused work, community with other artists, and inspiration from the beautiful surroundings and diverse cultural offerings of the Lower Hudson Valley. A group day trip to New York City, along with a tour of the Art Students League’s landmark home on 57th Street in Manhattan, is offered. Visiting artists offer monthly studio conversations alongside a weekly communal lunch.

My time at Vytlacil was a dream come true. Everyone was WONDERFUL … warm, welcoming and knew their stuff. I can’t say enough GOOD about Vytlacil…it would fill volumns.
