Location: Brooklyn, New York, USA
Mission: The Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD) is offering a Studio Practice Residency for non-student working artists to develop, refine, or challenge their artistic practice in dialog with a chosen mentor. This residency will be a studio intensive mentorship program held at the AICAD facility in DUMBO, Brooklyn from January 6th through May 6th, 2016. Visual artist and critic William Powhida, will lead the Studio Practice Residency. Accepted participants will work with mentors to be determined.
AICAD conducted it’s first session with five (5) participants in the Fall 2015. AICAD identified a need for artists wishing to take the next step in their professional careers without having to wait indefinite selection cyles for acceptance into a juried residency. Our selection process is based mainly on an artist’s long term vision and sustained studio practice/exhibition record.
We are located in DUMBO, Brooklyn, NY. (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.) The residency has easy access to the F, A, C, and E trains and is one stop away from lower Manhattan. DUMBO is home to many galleries and non-profit art organizations including Smack Mellon, Triangle Arts Association, NYFA, and the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program.
