Founded in 1907 as the Arts and Crafts Society of Portland (and later renamed Oregon College of Art and Craft), OCAC was one of the oldest craft-focused art schools in the United States. The Portland campus in southwest Portland's Sylvan-Highlands neighborhood housed BFA and MFA programs, a residency program, and an active gallery for over a century. After years of financial pressure on small private art colleges, OCAC announced its closure in March 2019 and shuttered the campus that summer. The closure was part of a broader wave of small art school closures in the 2010s. The property has since been sold; some faculty moved to PNCA (Pacific Northwest College of Art), and the OCAC archives were transferred to the Oregon Historical Society. This listing is preserved for reference and review continuity.
