  1. I’m currently in residence at the Hrísey Old School Arthouse (Gamli skóli) in Iceland. The June midnight sun is amazing, and the island is secluded and beautiful with friendly locals who want to engage. Good energy and snow-capped mountains on the mainland will inspire any artist. Be aware the temperature and weather is not classically ‘summery’, so bring warm attire. (Also, FYI: The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts charges a $40 application fee.)
