Set on writer and civil rights activist Lillian Smith's mountain property in the Blue Ridge of north Georgia, the Lillian E. Smith Center is operated by Piedmont University. The residency program hosts writers, visual artists, composers, and scholars whose work engages with social justice, civil rights, and the legacy of Smith's anti-segregationist writing. One- to four-week stays in private cabins on the wooded campus; modest fee with fellowship support available.
