Louisiana ArtWorks was a 90,000-square-foot arts complex in downtown New Orleans, founded by the Arts Council New Orleans and conceived as a working artist village with studios, exhibition space, and a residency program. It opened in 2008 after years of development and weathered the post-Katrina recovery only briefly — the program closed in the financial wreckage that followed the recession, with the building changing hands several times. The residency was active for only a few years and represents the broader pattern of New Orleans cultural infrastructure that did not survive the long shadow of Katrina. Preserved here for reference and review continuity.
