Agora Collective

agorabuilding2

Location: Berlin, Germany

Mission:  This residency program is conceived to extend Agora Collective’s interests in collaborative artistic practices as well as to discuss new format of collaborations and methodologies. Selected artists meet for the very first time in Berlin and are immediately asked to share a bedroom and a studio. Over the course of the residency, artists are asked to reflect, produce and present a final piece together. This requires the two artists to depart from their solo practices and to develop a new process together. As such, we expect the program to be challenging – requiring a high level of commitment, communication and a willingness to step outside personal and professional comfort zones. Artists and creatives from all disciplines are welcome to apply, including visual artists, digital artists, performance, choreographers, architects, sound artists and designers.

Cost: 700 Euros

Application Fee: free

Number of Artists: Unknown

Accommodations: Accommodation with Studio Space  (bed room, private kitchen, toilette with shower). Selected artists meet for the very first time in Berlin and are immediately asked to share a bedroom and a studio.

Length of Stay: Up to 1 month

Demographic: Agora Collective is a small group of artists and thinkers emerging from many disciplines and backgrounds. While it retains a small, core group, an essential part of its process is to invite new collaborators according to the current project.

In this manner, with each new piece and new group, Agora Collective is challenged to find a territory where varied skills, experiences and interests can find a common ground.

The methodology of work is to develop new methodologies – process-oriented – for each new piece. For Agora Collective the process of creation has major importance and it reveals itself as the subject matter of the work.

Everyday objects and situations, notions of network, as well as an open dialogue between public and private sphere play a significant role for the group.

Medium: Artists from any discipline – including visual artists, digital artists, performance, choreographers, architects, sound artists and designers – can apply to partake in our residency.
